In Germany, there are currently two ExpressRoute locations available in Frankfurt am Main, which enable a private connectivity. Once connected via Azure ExpressRoute, you not only have access to your existing Azure services and workloads, but you can also expand your cloud environment with additional services from the global Azure network at any time.
Flexible scalability and unlimited data volume
Our direct connections offer bandwidths ranging from 50 Mbit/s to 100 Gbit/s – with the option to scale up as needed – and unlimited data volume. With Azure ExpressRoute, you also benefit from lower traffic costs per GB for dedicated data transfer compared to the costs per GB for data transfer via the internet.

ExpressRoute is a cloud service that enables private connections between Microsoft data centres and an on-premises infrastructure in a company. ExpressRoute connections are not established via the public Internet and offer high security, reliability and speed with lower latency. When you use Azure ExpressRoute via Telekom, we provide you with network solutions from the Telekom network – from your company network to the Microsoft transfer point.
As your ExpressRoute partner, Telekom takes care of all the preparatory work required for your connection to Microsoft Azure. This ranges from site networking to the ExpressRoute location, the necessary Azure subscriptions and configuration in Azure.
The so-called ExpressRoute locations provide an entry point into the Microsoft Azure cloud network. At these locations, which are available worldwide, ExpressRoute partners such as Telekom establish connections between your network and the Microsoft network. In Germany, ExpressRoute locations are currently available in Frankfurt am Main.
Once a connection to an ExpressRoute location in a geopolitical region has been established, you have access to Azure services in all regions within that geopolitical region.
For example, all Azure regions in the Europe geopolitical region can be accessed via the ExpressRoute locations in Frankfurt am Main:

Azure ExpressRoute can be used instead of a VPN connection such as Azure VPN Gateway over the public internet to connect customer networks to Microsoft Azure. IPsec VPN connections use the public internet, while Azure ExpressRoute connections are based on direct, private lines. Microsoft also uses a redundant pair with BGP sessions per peering for high-availability configurations to ensure high availability.
No, Microsoft has not set any limits on the amount of data that can be transferred.
