Magenta Secure SD-WAN based on Cisco Meraki

Challenge

A training provider operates several training centres and is increasingly turning to digital learning formats, hybrid training, video conferencing and cloud-based learning platforms. The existing network topology has evolved over time and is reaching its limits due to increasing cloud usage, fluctuating participant numbers and high demands on performance and security. At the same time, operations need to remain straightforward, as internal IT resources are limited.

Solution

Magenta Secure SD-WAN, based on Cisco Meraki, securely and centrally connects training centres, head offices, trainers working from home and cloud applications. Existing lines can continue to be used and flexibly supplemented with internet, fibre-optic or mobile connections. Centralised management enables locations to be connected more quickly, applications such as learning platforms, Microsoft 365 or video services to be prioritised, and security policies to be implemented consistently.

Challenge

A retailer wishes to modernise its legacy network topology and meet the growing demands of cloud applications, point-of-sale systems and digital in-store services. At the same time, the aim is to replace around 800 end-of-life switches, implement security policies more flexibly and enable a variety of breakout scenarios.

Solution

With Magenta Secure SD-WAN based on Cisco Meraki, branch offices are connected centrally, automatically and scalably via Meraki MX and Meraki MS. Provisioning is carried out via zero-touch deployment; an API script supports the roll-out via a user-friendly provisioning tool.

Challenge

To date, the hotel group has primarily used MPLS for site-to-site connectivity. Bandwidth requirements are increasing due to cloud applications, digital hotel services, booking systems and guest Wi-Fi. MPLS upgrades are costly and make flexible scaling difficult. At some sites, MPLS is used for internal data traffic and DSL for guest access in parallel. This increases complexity, support costs and operating expenses.

Solution

As part of the modernisation of the site network, Magenta Secure SD-WAN based on Cisco Meraki is being deployed. Meraki MX appliances are being used at several hotel locations. Existing connections can continue to be used and can be flexibly expanded with additional links. Internal data traffic, cloud applications and guest access are reliably separated from one another and prioritised. All components are centrally controlled and monitored via the Meraki Dashboard.
