Secure SD-WAN with Fortinet

Fortinet offers technologies that can combine networking and security functions within a coordinated architecture. The specific benefits and components available depend on the agreed package.

SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) addresses the intelligent interconnection of sites and applications. SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) extends network concepts to include cloud-based security and access services. Such an extension is not automatically included in the SD-WAN offering.

That may well be the case. Whether and how an existing environment is integrated depends, amongst other things, on the hardware, licences, configuration, security requirements and the desired operating model.

Depending on the location and the chosen architecture, connections such as internet, MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), LTE or 5G may be used. The actual technical and contractual availability will be checked.

Secure SD-WAN can complement or modernise existing WAN architectures. Whether MPLS is retained, replaced or combined depends on requirements in terms of availability, security and performance.

The connection is planned on the basis of the site type, the required WAN technology, security policies and the existing infrastructure. Provisioning and ongoing support are based on the agreed service package.

Depending on the agreement, the scope of services may include planning, provisioning, monitoring, support and lifecycle management. Only the scope set out in the individual quotation is binding.
