Everything under control in one tool, at a glance and on any device: chat, video conferencing and telephony
Many companies want to work more efficiently. At the same time, demands on IT and employees, who often use several tools simultaneously, are increasing. With the telephony extension for Microsoft Teams, you can now turn your collaboration tool into a modern communication centre. This will increase the efficiency of your collaboration and save you the costs of operating telecommunications systems.
Like all Microsoft Teams functions, Teams Telephony can be used worldwide. You can always be reached on your Telekom landline number, even when you are on the move, as the solution can be used on various devices such as smartphones, tablets or laptops. Calls to your office landline number are therefore also received on your smartphone. You can also make outgoing calls using your British phone number. Whether you are in the office, working from home or travelling abroad, you can make calls at no extra cost.
Microsoft Teams is the central tool for simple, digital collaboration – and can also be used as a telephone system.
We provide you with the full power of Teams telephony – geo-redundant and highly available. Whether you run a start-up or an established company with multiple locations, management is easy:
Save yourself the administrative hassle of managing your telephone system and conveniently control all functions from the Teams Admin Centre.
With Teams telephony, you have a single solution for all communication within your company: chats, telephony, video calls and online conferences. This eliminates the need to constantly switch between different apps and devices.
Of course, Teams offers standard features for professional telephony, such as hold, forwarding and deputy rules. In addition, intelligent features are available: you can seamlessly transfer calls from your smartphone to your computer or desk phone. Copilot provides you with transcription, automatic summarisation and simultaneous translation into many languages.
With a click of the mouse or a touch, ongoing calls can be held or transferred to a mobile device: employees can continue their calls without interruption using the Microsoft Teams app.
Your voice messages are consolidated in Teams voicemail. Particularly practical: store your voice messages using text-to-speech or have your messages displayed as text using speech-to-text.
A colleague calls and leaves a voice message. Is it urgent and do I need to leave the meeting immediately? Or can it wait until later? By transcribing the message: the cloud-based voicemail box with speech recognition sends you voice messages as audio files via email – supplemented by a transcript of the message, in which speech is converted into text. This allows you to respond even if you are unable to listen to the voice message.

Various conditions apply to purchasing Microsoft Teams Phone Standard with a Telekom discount. For example, an active landline or mobile phone contract with Telekom is required for the entire contract period. By placing your order, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
The discount granted is valid exclusively for new Microsoft Teams Phone Standard contracts and can be applied for a period of up to 12 months after purchase. Please also note that the discount is non-transferable.
What does "Telekom customer" mean? Telekom customers are defined as customers who have an active landline or mobile phone contract with Telekom for the entire term of the contract. By placing an order, you confirm that this requirement is met.
What happens after the discount period expires?
If the discount has expired in accordance with the terms and conditions and the Microsoft Teams Phone Standard subscription has not been cancelled in time, your contract will be automatically renewed at the current non-discounted prices. The current terms and conditions can be found in the price list.
You have two options for technically integrating your voice connection: choose between the cloud-based approach with Operator Connect and a variant with local infrastructure, Direct Routing. A combination of both variants is also possible. Our professionals will be happy to advise you.
There are no differences in handling for your users. The only difference is in the technical implementation – i.e. in the infrastructure underlying the telephony.
As a 100% cloud solution, Operator Connect is designed for convenience and speed of installation and management. Operator Connect is therefore aimed at smaller and medium-sized businesses, as well as companies that want to take advantage of a standardised cloud solution for telephony: reduced costs and less strain on IT resources when managing their telephone system.
Direct routing is much more complex to administer and is aimed at companies that want to administer the session border controller (SBC) themselves and use it according to their individual requirements – because then a wide range of options is available. It is also considered the best option if the integration of a local database is required (e.g. CRM or ERP applications), locations are connected via MPLS rather than the internet, or third-party systems are connected.
First of all, you need Microsoft Teams. This application is usually already included in a Microsoft 365 or Office 365 licence package.
In addition, you will need the Microsoft Teams Phone Standard add-on for telephony. Customers with a Microsoft E5 licence already have this add-on licensed.
You can obtain all necessary Microsoft licences at low cost from Telekom. Your customer advisor or our experts will be happy to answer any questions you may have about licences and our attractive price advantages.
We recommend that you have our certified Microsoft experts place the order and set up the system. This will enable us to provide you with additional support in setting up the Microsoft Teams telephony functions. Whether you require an automatic switchboard with time-controlled call distribution, intelligent call queues or parallel ringing for multiple employees (call queue/group calls) – our professionals will set up all this and more so that you can manage it quickly and easily yourself.
These extended support services are provided via remote desktop or on site. You can order them for a fee during the consultation.
Would you like to set it up yourself? In the CompanyFlex help portal, you will find step-by-step instructions for booking and setting up Operator Connect on your Microsoft tenant, as well as for assigning phone numbers in the Microsoft Teams Admin Portal.
Yes. To enjoy the benefits of Microsoft Teams telephony with Telekom, you don't have to turn your existing telephony infrastructure upside down. You decide which numbers you want to use with your PBX and which you want to use for Microsoft Teams telephony. This allows you to continue operating your PBX in parallel and migrate to Microsoft Teams telephony step by step.
Such parallel operation is also possible on a permanent basis, both for an existing telecommunications system and for direct routing. This can make sense, for example, when connecting your own contact centre with individual requirements. You enjoy complete flexibility!

Yes. Telekom is the only provider in Germany that also allows you to integrate your mobile numbers into Microsoft Teams telephony. This means, for example, that your sales department can be reached on all devices under one phone number – with a call history and voicemail across all end devices. For more information on this topic, please visit the Mobile for Microsoft Teams page.
Whether it's a desk phone, laptop or smartphone, your users can take any call on the device of their choice. Whether in the office, working from home or on the go.
Terminal devices such as existing landline telephones or IP DECT telephones can be operated provided they are certified by Microsoft and connected via the Microsoft SIP Gateway. Older analogue terminal devices, such as door intercoms or analogue extensions, can also be integrated via certified analogue terminal adapters (ATABox, e.g. from AudioCodes).
Furthermore, call centre applications such as Luware or CRM applications such as Salesforce can already be integrated into Microsoft Teams.
However, Microsoft does not support faxing. But even in this case, we can offer you solutions so that you can continue to communicate by fax. Just get in touch with us.
A Session Border Controller (SBC) is a hardware component or software application used to securely connect different networks. In a VoIP (Voice over IP) network, it is used to connect (insecure) external networks to (secure) internal networks and to control telephone calls.
An operating mode for connecting telephone systems to a Microsoft Teams tenant. In this operating mode, the element required for the transition between Microsoft and the public voice network is either a hardware session border controller (SBC) provided by the customer or a cloud service provided by Telekom.
Operator Connect enables you to use Microsoft Teams as a telephone system. Microsoft has certified a selection of telephone providers ("operators") for Operator Connect and connected them to the Microsoft Teams infrastructure via an interface. Telekom is one of these providers.
In Telekom's Operator Connect variant, the service can be flexibly activated and deactivated via self-service and can be cancelled on a monthly basis.
Telephone connection based on an Internet data line for connecting a telephone system on site.
A telephone system connects multiple end devices, such as telephones or fax machines, both to each other and to the public telephone network. You can install your telephone system physically on site or have it operated as a cloud service by a service provider. The latter significantly reduces the administrative effort.
A Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) enables faster transmission of data packets in a network. To achieve this, the data packets are supplemented with "labels" so that they take optimised, predefined paths through the network.
A number block consists of several telephone numbers.
The number block 0228-181 1*, for example, can contain the following 10 telephone numbers:
By extending the numbers by one digit, it can also be expanded to 100 telephone numbers.
A call queue is a queue in a telephone system. It plays a role in call centres, for example.
With a remote desktop connection, IT support staff offer their assistance via remote maintenance.
