There are numerous federal and state funding programmes to promote the digitalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises. We support you in selecting the programme that is right for you. Here is a selection:
Yes, the funding programmes can be combined. For example, you can receive subsidised consulting services through the nationwide "go-digital" funding programme – and the subsequent planned investment in hardware and software can be subsidised through a state funding programme, such as Digitalbonus Bayern.
Please note that a project that has already received funding from one programme cannot receive funding a second time. This prevents "double funding".
The criteria may vary depending on the funding programme. In general, small and medium-sized enterprises in all sectors with business premises or branches in Germany are eligible for funding.
The two federal programmes, "go-digital" and "Digital Jetzt", support companies with up to 100 employees (go-digital) and up to 499 employees (Digital Jetzt) in the group of companies.
The number of employees varies in the programmes offered by the federal states.
The de minimis aid rule applies here. It stipulates that the total amount granted to a company within three tax years may not exceed €200,000.
If it is a different project that received funding more than three years ago, a new application for funding can be submitted.
Services provided by external consulting firms, external ICT providers and external training providers are generally eligible for funding. Subsidies are granted for consulting services, investments in hardware and software, and employee training.
Each funding programme has defined criteria that contribute to the objectives of the respective programme.
Replacements and standard hardware (PCs, laptops, etc.) and standard software (operating systems, Office, etc.) are generally not eligible for funding. The same applies to measures that have already been started.
Yes, expenditure on licences and system service fees for software is eligible for funding. The expenditure is broken down in the offer according to the planned duration. The maximum duration for which funding is available is 12 months.
Please note that standard workplace software (such as conventional office software or operating systems) is generally not eligible for funding.
Once you have received a positive funding decision for the implementation of your project, the maximum implementation period is 12 months from the start of the project.
Digitalisation grant for businesses
Small and medium-sized enterprises in particular benefit from the wide range of support programmes that the federal and state governments have made available for digitisation projects. Government support for SMEs can cover up to 70 percent of the investment costs. That pays off. Conversely, many companies fear the jungle of support programmes and shy away from choosing the right one. The application process for the digital bonus also deters companies. As a result, they simply leave the digitisation subsidy unused. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can access the "Digital Jetzt" funding programme for the implementation of digital business models and further training. Here, a maximum of 60% of the costs can be refinanced up to an amount of €100,000. In addition to the federal programme mentioned as an example, there are many state funding programmes that provide financial support for digitalisation.
