Help with fixed IP addresses

To use a fixed IP address, you need the right tariff. Whether you want to use an on-site telephone system or one from the cloud, we have all the right tariffs, such as Company Pro or CompanyFlex on our website.

Technically, it is important that your router supports the configuration of a static IP address.

Important: Before activating your fixed IP address, please ensure that the relevant connection has been set up.

How to set up a static IP address via the Magenta Business Service Portal (MBSP):

1. Log in to the MBSP with your Telekom login details.
2. Under "My contracts" and "Internet & DSL", select the contract for which you wish to activate the fixed IP address.
3. You can now activate this feature by clicking on "Set up fixed IP address" in the top right-hand corner. If you cannot see this option, it means that your selected contract does not include a fixed IP address. Our service team will be happy to advise you on a tariff that suits your business. 4. After activation, the internet connection at the affected port will be interrupted and restored after a short time. Your fixed IP address is now active and you can view it directly via the MBSP or via your router's menu.

If you would like to transfer an existing static IP address, you can also transfer and activate it directly in the MBSP using the token provided for the desired connection. For more information, see "How can I transfer a static IP address to another connection?".

Important: Before you can adopt the desired static IP address, it must first be deactivated and a token created for adoption. For more information, see "How can I delete/deactivate a static IP address?".

Here's how you can assign a static IP address to another connection:

1. Log in to the MBSP with your Telekom login details.
2. Under "My contracts" and "Internet & DSL", select the contract for which you want to transfer the fixed IP address.
3. You can now apply and activate this setting by clicking on "Set up fixed IP address" in the top right-hand corner. If the activation option is not visible, this means that the selected contract does not include a fixed IP address. Our service team will be happy to advise you on a tariff that suits your company. 4. Now enter the desired static IP address and the token you created. Click on "Apply" to activate the static IP address. During this time, the internet connection at the affected port will be interrupted and restored after a short time. Your static IP address is now active and will be displayed directly in the MBSP or via your router's menu. 

To delete/deactivate a static IP address via the Magenta Business Service Portal (MBSP):

1. Log in to MBSP with your Telekom login details.
2. Under "My contracts" and "Internet & DSL", select the contract for which the fixed IP address is activated.
3. Under "Set up fixed IP address", you can now delete or deactivate your fixed IP address and create a token (valid for 14 days) if it is to be transferred to another connection. Please note that after deletion/deactivation, the Internet connection of the affected connection will be interrupted for a short time. A new connection will then be established with a dynamic IP address in future. 

Reverse DNS (rDNS) converts your IP address into a domain name. This helps to verify the authenticity of the IP address and ensure that it matches the expected domain name.

Important: Before you can set up reverse DNS (rDNS), the static IP address must be activated on the desired connection. You can find out exactly how to do this in the FAQ "How can I activate a static IP address?".

How to set up a reverse DNS (rDNS) via the Magenta Business Service Portal (MBSP):

1. Log in to MBSP with your Telekom login details.
2. Under "My contracts" and "Internet & DSL", select the contract for which you want to activate Reverse DNS (rDNS).
3. You can now configure the settings by clicking on "Manage Reverse DNS" in the top right-hand corner. Select the IP address for which you want to set up the reverse DNS entry and enter the desired domain name.
4. You can then start the setup by clicking on "Activate Reverse DNS". We will process your entry in just a few minutes. You can check the current status at any time at the top of the page. Once it is active, the setup is complete.

Here's how you can view the current status of your reverse DNS (rDNS) via the Magenta Business Service Portal (MBSP):

1. Log in to MBSP with your Telekom login details.
2. Under "My contracts" and "Internet & DSL", select the contract for which Reverse DNS (rDNS) has been activated.
3. You can now view all information and the current status in the top right-hand corner under "Manage Reverse DNS".

With a fixed IPv6 address for mobile devices, establishing connections becomes faster and easier. This is because the devices can be addressed directly, making networking on the Internet even smoother.

Here is the most important information at a glance:

• The Fixed IPv6 Address option allows you to establish a connection easily, as your mobile device can be uniquely identified worldwide. It is comparable to the personal mobile phone number you use for your telephone service.
• If the Fixed IPv6 Address option is included in your tariff, your mobile device will receive the same IPv6 address every time it connects to the mobile network. In technical terms, a fixed IPv6 address means that the mobile network always assigns the same prefix 64 (first part of the IPv6 address). The "second" part of the IPv6 address (suffix/interface identifier – 64 bits) is assigned by the router or the device connected to it, depending on how the router/device is configured.
• By implementing NAT64, IPv4 destinations can be reached in addition to IPv6 destinations.
