Plan your cloud resources for the long term and reduce your costs: Microsoft's Azure Reserved Instances (RI) and Server Subscriptions – which you can book with TelekomCloud – are two cost-effective options for easily plannable (cloud) workloads. With a one-year or three-year model, you can save up to 80 percent compared to a usage-based pay-as-you-go model. Find out more about the offers on this page and get in touch with us.
With Azure Reserved Instances (Azure reservations), you can save on the cost of your Azure services by choosing plans with a term of one or three years – e.g. for virtual machines or other Azure resources. Unlike the pay-as-you-go option, this type of booking is particularly suitable for workloads that run stably over the long term and are therefore easy to plan. By pre-booking, you receive a discount on the cost of the resources you use – depending on the Azure service and the term of the reservation, you can save up to 80 per cent of the costs.
Azure Reserved Instances are available for various cloud services, including:
You can book Azure Reserved Instances for one year or three years directly with Telekom. You have the option of paying the entire amount in advance or using the monthly payment option.
No, it is not possible to book Azure Reserved Instances with a start date in the future. The billing period begins at the time of booking.
Azure Reserved Instances can also be applied to VM Scale Sets and Azure Batch User Subscriptions Mode.
You can find your Reserved Instances in the Azure Portal. Select the 'Reservations' menu to view all reserved Azure instances associated with your subscription.
30 days before expiry and on the expiry date itself, users will receive an email notification about the expiry of the Reserved Instance. After expiry, provisioned services will continue to run and will be billed at the current pay-as-you-go rate.
You can book Reserved Instances and Server Subscriptions, including Azure Hybrid Benefit, in the Telekom Cloud Marketplace. Contact our team on 0800 33 04444 to arrange a consultation.
Similar to Azure Reserved Instances, server subscriptions also offer customers with long-term server usage planning a price advantage when subscribing to the operating system (term: one year or three years). You can use these server licences both on the Azure platform and for local (on-premises) VMs. Part of the server subscriptions is the Azure Hybrid Benefit, which is also available to customers with an existing Windows Server licence including Software Assurance. This allows you to apply corresponding discounts to your Azure workloads.
The Azure Hybrid Benefit allows customers to:
The Server Subscriptions offer includes the following licences:
The server subscriptions each have a term of one year or three years.
No. Booking server subscriptions does not require an existing Azure subscription. However, if the server subscription is to be used in the Azure Cloud, an Azure subscription is required to apply the Hybrid Benefit price advantage.
The Microsoft Terms of Use for Online Services for Volume Licensing and the Product Terms for Volume Licensing in the currently valid versions from Microsoft apply in principle.
An important difference between CSP and volume licensing is that CSP does not include Software Assurance (SA). However, Azure server subscriptions have certain equivalent Software Assurance rights. They also allow the use of new versions released during the subscription period.
Software Assurance benefits that are not available through CSP include, for example:
No, it is not possible to book server subscriptions with a start date in the future. The subscription begins at the time of booking.
The price for a server subscription is payable immediately and as a one-off payment, i.e. the total amount will be invoiced in the respective billing month of the booking.
