Here are the key features for creating a productive virtual classroom:
Set password: Set a meeting or webinar password and share it with your course and webinar participants to ensure that only guests with the password can enter your virtual classroom.
Only allow participants with Zoom Webinar registration: For meetings and webinars, you can make registration mandatory to see who has signed up to participate in your class. You can also manually approve each registered user to better assess who is participating in your class.
Enable waiting rooms: Waiting rooms prevent participants from automatically joining a meeting and are enabled by default for users in our programme for school classes up to Year 13. You can admit each participant individually or all participants at once. You can also allow students who are logged in via your school's domain to skip the waiting room. Meanwhile, participants who are not part of your school's domain must be admitted individually.
Disable screen sharing: For education users, screen sharing settings are configured so that only the host can share their screen. This prevents participants from sharing unwanted or distracting content. To allow users to share content, you can adjust this setting or disable and re-enable sharing during the meeting using the security icon.
Disable private chat: The host can block chat so that participants cannot exchange private messages. However, they can still chat with the teacher and ask for help, for example.
Manage participants: If an uninvited guest joins your class, you can remove them using the controls in the security icon. For more information on managing participants, such as the ability to mute participants, turn off their video, and restrict renaming, please visit our Support Centre.
Lock meeting: You can also lock the meeting directly via the security icon to prevent other participants from joining the meeting after it has started. This feature not only prevents uninvited guests from participating, but also allows you to quickly identify who arrived late to your course.
