Handelsblatt Media Group

The world of news never stands still – and that certainly applies to business news. Whether it's a stock market crash, AI hype, a commodities crisis or the latest figures from global big players, Handelsblatt Media Group always has its finger on the pulse with Handelsblatt and Wirtschaftswoche, providing up-to-date reports and in-depth background research.

As is so often the case, the more dynamic your business is, the higher the demands in terms of communication and collaboration. Even the best journalists and editors can only stay on top of things if communication and collaboration are efficiently bundled, and if telephony, chat and the work of different teams on the next big story flow seamlessly into one another. This was reason enough for Handelsblatt to opt for Telekom's Microsoft Teams telephony solution to integrate all relevant telephony functions into Microsoft Teams.

"Microsoft Teams was our tool of choice for communication and virtual collaboration," explains Markus Söller, Team Leader IT Coordination at Handelsblatt Media Group. "At the same time, maximum availability and a high degree of flexibility are absolutely essential for us," Mr Söller continues. "In this respect, it made sense for us to rely on Microsoft Teams Operator Connect and Deutsche Telekom as our long-standing partner."

With Microsoft Teams Operator Connect, Handelsblatt Media Group uses Telekom's virtualised session border controller to connect its telephony to Microsoft Teams – fast, flexible, geo-redundant, freely scalable and highly cost-efficient.

The Handelsblatt hotlines – e.g. for subscribers – will be integrated directly into Microsoft Teams, and the switchboard at the main location in Düsseldorf will be equipped with additional features via a Luware integration so that every caller can be quickly and conveniently connected to the right contact person. The inevitable fax numbers are already being disconnected from the network and routed to Telekom's Fax2Mail system. "Telekom won us over with its comprehensive concept, which left no stone unturned, from classic office telephony to fax connectivity, integration of desk and DECT phones, and contact centre integration," says Markus Söller. "The project was crowned by a smooth transition without any noticeable restrictions or interruptions in use for our employees."
